We’re pleased to announce that we have exchanged contracts with Zephyr X for the sale of land adjoining Sundew Court integrated retirement community in Newport Shropshire for the development of a new memory and nursing 70-bed care home operated by EQ Care.

The deal will see the delivery of a rare “continuing care” model, bringing independent living, supported living, nursing and dementia care together within the confines of a single site, something not currently available at this scale anywhere between Birmingham and Manchester.

This partnership reinforces our vision for Sundew Court as a place where later life feels like a new beginning. Having high-quality care next door will allow residents to remain independent for longer, with reassurance, security and choice as needs evolve.

EQ Care is a highly regarded operator with a strong existing relationship with Telford & Wrekin Council, including its operation of The Maples care home in Telford. At a time when many quality operators are stepping away from council-funded care, this commitment is particularly important.

Construction is starting today, Monday 12 January 2026 with completion expected June 2027.
