Violins and the Invisible Vol-au-Vents!

We were delighted to welcome even more members of our community to our recent ‘Violins and Vol-au-Vents’ event, held at St. Peter and Paul’s Church on 4th February. It does however turn out that 'Vol-au-Vents' whilst being first created back in the 16th century, are not easily found in Newport in 2026! We did manage to find a suitable replacement though, the Great British sausage roll which saved the day!

The Sundew Court team was joined by over 20 guests for an afternoon filled with music and great company. We were treated to a harmonic violin recital performed by the unquestionably talented duo, William and Sue Pickering, whose performances created a truly uplifting atmosphere.

Guests also enjoyed a lively musical quiz featuring familiar movie film scores and classic TV advert themes — sparking plenty of friendly competition and nostalgic moments! Alongside the entertainment, everyone tucked into some food (minus the Vol-au-Vents) and refreshments, while taking the opportunity to get to know one another better.

We’re now looking ahead to our next event to say goodbye to Winter and hello to ‘Sing into Spring’, taking place in late March/early April.
